A commitment beyond technology

At Sterifast, sustainability is part of how we think about technology, safety and long-term value. Our approach draws on environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), bringing together responsible engineering and continuous operational improvement.

Protection at the heart of what we do

Our approach to sustainability is guided by four interconnected principles, already at the centre of our commitments: excellence, protection, ecology and innovation.

Excellence

We aim for engineering precision, dependable plasma sterilization technology, product quality and continuous improvement of safety and regulatory compliance.

Protection

Our responsibility includes patients, healthcare professionals and our own teams. We focus on reliable sterilization processes, risk management and safe working conditions.

Ecology

We seek responsible use of energy, water and materials. Our low-temperature hydrogen-peroxide plasma technology provides a different sterilization approach from steam-based methods, with potential to avoid process water use in the sterilization phase; actual environmental benefits depend on the application and should be assessed on comparable evidence.

Innovation

Research, development, engineering and collaboration with partners help us explore ways to improve sterilization performance, efficiency and environmental responsibility.

Our progress, measured

In July 2026, Sterifast completed an ESG maturity diagnosis under the Novo Rumo a Norte — Rumo à Sustentabilidade initiative promoted by AEP. The diagnostic complements these commitments with a structured review of environmental, social and governance maturity.

Three pillars. One commitment

Environmental

Our energy and water monitoring, on-site generation and reported renewable electricity supply support our environmental efforts. The 2026 diagnosis also identifies priorities for improving greenhouse-gas accounting, waste measurement and wastewater monitoring. Our EcoPlasma technology forms part of our broader search for efficient sterilization solutions.

Social

Protecting people means working towards safer healthcare, safe workplaces, equality and the development of our teams. Our diagnosis reports 50% women in the workforce, 0% reported workforce turnover and a 0% work-accident rate for the reported reference period.

Governance

We aim to embed ethics, accountability, risk awareness and sustainability targets in business decisions. Defined policies and structured reporting provide a foundation for monitoring our progress and communicating clearly with customers, employees and partners.

Our next steps

We will continue to develop environmental measurement, improve the quality and verification of reported indicators, and work with partners on responsible solutions throughout the sterilization workflow.

  1. Improve greenhouse-gas inventories and verification
  2. Strengthen waste and effluent monitoring
  3. Develop transparent ESG reporting

Moving forward, responsibly
